Fort Lauderdale officially became home to the world’s first pickleball stadium, unveiled Sunday at The Fort, a new 43-court facility near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Co-founder Brad Tuckman called the project a five-year dream realized, complete with 14 covered courts for all-weather play and a dedicated stadium built for the sport’s growing fan base. “We said we have to go all out — so what’s never been done before? A pickleball stadium!” Tuckman said.
Mayor Dean Trantalis praised The Fort as a model public-private partnership, showing how the city can revitalize unused land for active recreation. The complex includes a lake for water sports, a restaurant, and social spaces designed to build community among players of all ages and skill levels.
The Fort is open daily, including holidays, offering both casual and competitive play opportunities.
