"The Fort," a premier pickleball facility in Fort Lauderdale's Snyder Park, is nearing completion. Spearheaded by CEO Brad Tuckman, this $30 million project encompasses 43 outdoor courts, including 14 under airplane hangars for weather protection, and a forthcoming 2,000-seat stadium set to open by early June. The Sport Business Journal states that the facility also features a 2,500-square-foot pro shop and fully equipped locker rooms, aiming to provide an unparalleled experience for pickleball enthusiasts.
Public-Private Partnership Powers $30M Investment in Fort Lauderdale Pickleball Hub
Developed through a public-private partnership, the city of Fort Lauderdale owns the land and licenses it to The Fort's private ownership group, which funds construction and operations while retaining about 99% of the revenue. Tuckman and co-founder Rich Campillo, along with other investors, contributed $23 million, with an additional $7 million financed through Centennial Bank. Vice Mayor Steven Glassman highlighted the city's commitment to such partnerships, citing similar collaborations for Chase Stadium and War Memorial Auditorium.
